First- The prep- start with a hot shower or a hot towel around your face. It’s also good to use a mild exfoliate. This will help lift the hairs to get the closest shave possible. Use a glycerin based shaving cream apply in a curricular motion.

Second- The shave- About.com recommends a 3 blade razor- 5 is too many and will just aggravate the skin, 1-2 will not properly cut all the hairs. Make sure your razor is sharp and you rinse it often this will help prevent razor burn. Hold the skin tight with your free hand and shave against the grain. If you nick your self put a dab of Dr. Hess Bull Balm on the spot immediately to stop the bleeding. Rinse with cool water.

Third- Use Dr. Hess Bull Balm! It will soften the skin provide a soothing, healing, and moisturizing comfort not to be surpassed! Plus you will smell great!

2 sticks (8 oz) butter
8 oz good-quality semisweet chocolate
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla
5 large eggs
1/3 cup unsweetened Dutch-process cocoa powder
1/2 tsp salt
2/3 cup all-purpose flour

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Spray a 13×9 inch pan.

Melt butter and chocolate in a large glass bowl in the microwave- this should take 2-3 minutes stopping every 30 seconds to stir until udderly smooth. Add the sugar and vanilla. Wait until it’s not too hot and add the eggs 1 at a time- mix until your mixture comes together. Mix in salt and cocoa powder, add the flour and stir until it disappears (DON’T OVER MIX!)

Spread in pan and bake until a pick inserted in center comes out with crumbs, 25 to 35 minutes. Let cool- if you can, this is the hard part! Then if you don’t have a large family I’d suggest sharing with your neighbor, or better yet your favorite Veteran! (Veteran’s day is Friday) Or you might just eat the entire pan!

This week since we’ve been posting about fall skin care we’ve also decided to post a yummy recipe for a fall soup. As in the post about fall skin care your body needs to be nourished from the inside out. We believe this soup is just what Dr. Hess would order for a cool (busy) fall day!

I created this recipe for a crock-pot but it can be made on the stove as well.

2 cups Butternut Squash cubed
3 large Carrots sliced
1 Onion diced
4 c Vegetable Stock
1/2c Light Cream
Salt
Pepper
Add the prepared veggies to the crock pot, pour broth over the top.

Cook for 4-5 hours on high or 7 hours on low or simmer on the stove for 35 minutes.

Puree with an immersion blender or in 2 batches in the blender.

Add the cream, salt and pepper to taste.

I like to serve it with freshly grated Parmesan and home made rolls.

Chafing- Doesn’t that word just rub you the wrong way? Well I feel like we are
getting to the stage of our relationship where I should share with you my hobbies
and passions! I LOVE BIKING! If I could get away everyday in this lovely 80 degree
fall temperature I totally would! There is just one little thing I don’t like about
biking-Chafing! OUCH!

Dr. Hess Udder Ointment claimed to heal Chafing. So I encountered a bit of chafing
this summer on my inner thigh I decided I’d put it to the test- Would it heal my
chafing problem? Yes it did! My legs are once again Udderly Smooth! (well not

for all my photo shoots! I hope you can relate!)

I know if you have Eczema you probably don’t want to talk about it and you feel
you have tried every eczema cream on the market! I can so relate, I was in the same
boat! That is until I tried Dr. Hess Udder Ointment. Now I have Udderly Smooth skin!

Let me share my story- every winter I get these scaly, itchy, red patches-Eczema
behind my knees and in the creases of my elbows. I was frustrated until a friend

sure if you’re reading this you’re probably to that point!
